John Paul's Kalathinu Munpe Nadannavar

Prolific script writer John Paul has published a book of essays "Kalathinu Munpe Nadannavar", in which he gives a vivid account of how the sweetest melodies in Malayalam cinema, including the song 'Arikil neeyundayirunnenkil' from Neeyethra Dhanya (1987), were born in a hotel room in Kochi.

Published by Olive Publications, Kozhikode, the book tells us how the song ‘Arikil neeyundayirunnenkil’ helped both O.N.V. Kurup and Devarajan overcome the differences they had earlier and what Devarajan felt about Yesudas who rendered the song. It also tells us about a man called Baby (actor Jose Prakash) who had served as Mahatma Gandhi’s security guard, John Paul said.

John Paul, who penned Palangal, Yathra, Rachana, Vida Parayum Munpe, Alolam, Minnaminunginte Nurunguvettom, Chamaram and Athirathram, is the man behind the script of veteran Malayalam director I.V. Sasi's ongoing Vellathooval, expected to hit theatres by the last week of April. The film has recently completed its entire shooting.

Vellathooval has Rajith Menon (Goal fame) and Nithya in the lead roles. Also in the cast are Lalu Alex, Jagathy, Ganeesh, Revathy, Seema and Swetha Menon. Produced by C.M. Raji under the banner of Anugraha Films, Vellathooval is presented by V.B.K. Menon.
