Filmmaker-actor Selvaraghavan has issued a clarification about the rumors claiming that he has written the script for his younger brother Dhanush's upcoming film, Raayan. The Naane Varuvean (2022) director put a full stop to reports on social media stating that he had written the script of the upcoming film, which is Dhanush's second directorial, while also informing that he did not participate in the scripting process. Confirming that he is a part of Raayan only as an actor, Selvaraghavan further informed that the highly-anticipated film is Dhanush's dream script and showered praise on him for his hard work and dedication, while expressing his excitement on wanting to witness the action in cinemas.

Taking to X on Tuesday evening, February 20, Selvaraghavan posted, "Friends , heard reports that I have written the script for  D 50  RAAYAN. I clarify that I have NOTHING to do with ‘ RAAYAN ‘ s script or scripting process. It’s purely @dhanushkraja s dream script and now he has made it in to his own film. I am merely an actor in this project 🙏🏼" (sic) He added, "Like all of you I cannot wait to watch #Raayan in theatres. Proud of my brother  @dhanushkraja and his hard work and dedication 🥰" (sic)

Selvaraghavan's latest clarification and confirmation about his role in Raayan has come after the film's title and first look were unveiled earlier this week to a phenomenal response. The film is Dhanush's second directorial after Pa Paandi (2017) and will see him sharing screen space with Sundeep Kishan once again after Captain Miller earlier this year and Kalidas Jayaram, while S J Suryah, Soorarai Pottru (2020) actress Aparna Balamurali and Sarpatta Parambarai (2021) fame Dushara Vijayan are also said to be cast in pivotal roles. There is tremendous buzz surrounding Raayan as it is said to be a gangster drama and also features music composed by Academy Award winner A. R. Rahman, who has boarded a Dhanush venture for the fifth time after films Raanjhanaa (2013), Maryan (2013), and Atrangi Re (2021), while their Bollywood project, Tere Ishk Mein under Aanand L. Rai's direction is also currently in development.
