Former AIADMK member A. V. Raju, who made controversial remarks against actress Trisha Krishnan, has issued an apology by appearing on video on Tuesday evening, February 20. The politician had made shocking claims about the leading Tamil star while targeting former Salem West MLA G. Venkatachalam in a recent interview, which went viral in quick time. Shortly after, Trisha took to social media yesterday evening to issue a strong statement saying she will initiate legal action.

A. V. Raju has now appeared on video and apologized to Trisha saying that his statements were misinterpreted. He said that he is wrongly being accused for what he said before. He also stated that he had no intentions of targeting any actors and apologized to Trisha, director Cheran, and Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) president RK Selvamani if his statements hurt their sentiments. A. V. Raju's statement came at the onset of a huge uproar on social media after celebrities and others called out the politician, with many extending their support to Trisha.

Trisha, who is yet to respond to A. V. Raja's apology, earlier in the day, wrote a strongly-worded statement on X by saying, "It's disgusting to repeatedly see low lives and despicable human beings who will stoop down to any level to gain attention. Rest assured, necessary and severe action will be taken. Anything that needs to be said and done henceforth will be from my legal department." (sic) On the work front, Trisha is currently a part of several big projects starting with Ajith Kumar's VidaaMuyarchi and 'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan's Thug Life in Tamil, followed by 'Megastar' Chiranjeevi's Vishwambhara, and Mohanlal's Ram and Tovino Thomas' Identity in Malayalam.
