A highly exciting and massive film in the making, the much-awaited Thalapathy 63 starring Vijay in the lead role being directed by under Atlee under the AGS Entertainment banner with music by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman has been announced for a Diwali release in October.

A multi-starrer, Vijay 63 also includes Nayanthara playing the female lead followed by Kathir, Vivek, Jackie Shroff, Indhuja, Daniel Balaji, Anandaraj, Yogi Babu, Reba Monica John, Devadarshini among others in crucial supporting roles and is a sports drama film revolving around the sport of women’s football.

With production on Vijay 63 proceeding at a brisk pace, there has been quite a lot of activity surrounding the film over the past two days that include casting reports and a few controversies.

There have been reports over the past few days that Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was being eyed by the Thalapathy 63 team for a role in the film. The news gained further steam when the ‘King Khan’ and director Atlee had watched an Indian Premier League (IPL) match between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) few days back followed by a casual meetup between the two.

Now, reports are doing the rounds in Bollywood media stating Shah Rukh Khan has indeed been approached to play a role in the film and as the antagonist to Vijay, which has now been denied by the Thalapathy 63 team.

On the other hand, Vijay 63 has been mired with a number of controversies among which a junior artist named Krishna Devi had filed a police complaint few days back against the film’s director, Atlee and his assistants alleging verbal harassment. That said, it was later revealed in the Community Service Register (CSR) petition receipt that the complaint was not against Atlee, but only against his assistants.

The next unexpected problem that struck the Thalapathy 63 team was last night (April 22) on the film’s sets at Saligramam in Chennai when an electrician named Selvaraj, aged 52, suffered severe injuries after a focus light fell on his head. Soon after, he was rushed to a private hospital in Porur where he is being given adequate medical treatment. Now, a picture of Vijay visiting the hospital to check in on the technician has been trending virally across social media.

Finally, the biggest and the most debated controversy surrounding Vijay 63 has been allegations of story theft against director Atlee by an aspiring filmmaker named KP Selvah, who previously served as an assistant director in Vijay Sethupathi’s Rekka.

The Thalapathy 63 story theft controversy has been going around for quite some time with KP Selvah explaining his stance on the whole issue in an exclusive interview to Galatta, which can be watched below:
