Tapasee as Tanu
South India's glam doll Tapasee has signed to play Tanu, a smart, intelligent and rebellious girl who is against arranged marriage, in the Telugu remake of Bollywood hit Tanu Weds Manu. The original role was played by Kangna Ranaut.
Comedian-turned-hero Sunil is the hero in this remake to be directed by Devi Prasad under the banner of Megasuper Good Movies. Sameer Reddy handles the camera. The movie will go on sets shortly.
Tanu Weds Manu revolves around Manu (Madhavan), a serious NRI doctor in London, who comes looking for a bride in India and falls for a sozzled small town girl Tanu (Kangna), who lives with her extended family in Kanpur. But there's a hitch. Tanu loves a goonda from Lucknow and threatens Manu with dire consequences if he doesn't refuse to marry her. What happens next forms the rest of the film.
