Looks like Dolby Atmos is the latest flavour in Indian cinema. From Bollywood to Kollywood, filmmakers are choosing this powerful new listening experiences for their movies. In Tamil, Vijay's Thalaivaa is the first straight film to release with this new-age technology. Earlier, the re-release of Superstar Rajinikanth's Sivaji 3D was in this format.

With Dolby Atmos, filmmakers can precisely position and move sounds anywhere in a theatre—even overhead—to heighten the realism and impact of every scene. This employs up to 64 speakers to heighten the realism and impact of every scene. It also allows sounds to move around the theatre to create dynamic effects.

Some of the movies to be released in Dolby Atmos are D Day, ABCD—Any Body Can Dance, Race 2 and Nautanki Saala!
