Reportedly The Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners Association has decided not to screen any films for a day to express their support to the Tamil Nadu government on Mullaperiyar Dam issue. Though the association has not yet finalised the exact date, reports suggest that it will be on December 16, 2011. All the screens across the state will not be screening any films on this particular day.
Recently Tamil Nadu theatre owners decided against the release of Dam 999, as it allegedly depicted the unresolved issue of Mullaperiyar between Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Following this the Tamil Nadu government imposed a ban on the movie in the state.
