Actor Murali is no more
National Award winning Tamil-Malayalam actor Murali, who was admitted to the intensive care unit of PRS hospital in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday night, died on Thursday evening around 8.20 p.m. 55-year-old Murali, an acute diabetic, was admitted after a kidney failure followed by a massive heart attack.
The doctors said that the actor had suffered multiple organ failure. He had liver cirrhosis which was compounded by pneumonia in his left lung. On August 5, Murali suffered a cardiac arrest. Next, his kidney stopped functioning. Murali was put on a ventilator for almost a day.
Murali had just returned from South Africa where he was shooting for Suriya’s Tamil film Aadhavan. The funeral will take place tomorrow evening at 5 p.m. with state honours. Till then, his body will be kept at�VJT Hall, Thiruvananthapuram. Murali is survived by his wife Shylaja and daughter Karthika.
Known for his powerful portrayal of lead roles and character roles, Murali had acted in more than 300 films and won his first Kerala State Award�(best supporting actor) for Amaram. Later, he went on to win the State Award (best actor) for Aadharam.
Murali again won the State Award for Neythukaran. The same film won him the National Award for best actor in 2002. Murali was currently serving as the Chairman of Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi.
