Chennai: Of the five youths who were arrested for looting a locked house in Perungulathur, two are reportedly college students. According to the Times of India, the gang was involved in several burglaries in and around Guduvanchery in the past two months.

According to sources, the police stopped a gang of boys who came in three bikes, during a vehicle check near Kattankolathur. They were unable to answer the questions from the cops and were taken in for an inquiry, during which they confessed to burglaries. The youths - Kishore (23), Ajmeer (19), Kamal Prasad (25), Vaitheeshkumar (25), and Akhilesh (23) - were arrested and after a cursory search, the police confiscated 3 bikes, 6 mobile phones, 6 laptops, 3 sovereigns gold, Rs. 10,000 in cash and 2 kgs of marijuana from them. Kishore and Ajmeer are both students of a private college near Tambaram.

The Marailmalai Nagar police registered a case and the Chengalpet Magistrate court remanded the gang into judicial custody.
