Actress Vijayashanti, who is also fondly called the 'Lady Superstar' of the 80s and 90s, is known to be a bold lady. She made a mark in the minds of all her fans and followers and boosted her tough on-screen persona with a career in politics. Even on the political front, Vijayashanti was known to be very straightforward and open about voicing her opinions. After taking a hiatus from politics, Vijayashanti returned to movies after a big gap of 13 years with the blockbuster hit of this year's Sankranti - Sarileru Neekevvaru. This movie, starring Mahesh Babu in the lead, turned out to be a super duper hit and made all of Vijayashanti's fans, very happy!

Vijayashanti had originally entered politics by joining the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), in 1997! However, she later quit the BJP and had joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), while the struggle for a separate Telangana state was at its peak and was elected to the Lok Sabha, in 2009! Later, Vijayashanti joined the Congress in 2014, just before the separation of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. After being in the Congress Party for nearly 6 years, Vijayashanti quit the party and resigned from even the party's basic membership, over the weekend and it was being stated that she would be returning to the BJP!

Now, as expected, Vijayashanti has returned to the BJP! Yesterday, Vijayashanti had met the Union Home Minister Amit Shah and now, she has rejoined BJP at a crucial time when the party is getting ready to contest an aggressive polls in the 2023 elections for the Telangana state. The recently concluded Hyderabad Civic polls have given the BJP a big boost, denting the popularity of the ruling TRS, with Congress not even making a sizeable mark. Vijayashanti shifting her allegiance from Congress to BJP comes on the heels of another popular actress Khushbu Sundar doing the same, just recently. Sources close to Vijayashanti state that despite having compared Modi to a terrorist and dictator in the past, she had not been too enthused by the Congress leadership in recent times and had stayed away from party activities for a while.
