Kate-Penelope: New best friends
Kate Winslet and Penelope Cruz have met only thrice, but that has in no way stopped a great friendship from blossoming between the two. Another interesting point is that the two are competing for an Oscar�in the Best Actress category�this year and have regularly been offering each other support over the phone. Penelope says, "Kate and I have become very close even though we have only met three times. Everyone likes to think there's rivalry between us but that's not true."
Penelope is nominated for her part in Vicky Cristina Barcelona, while Kate has been nominated for her role in The Reader.
