'Pind Daan' performed for Michael Jackson

Legendary pop singer Michael Jackson's 'Pind Daan' (also spelt Pinda Daan), a sacred Hindu ritual conducted for the salvation and peace of�departed souls, was reportedly held at the holy city of Bodh Gaya in Bihar, reports said.

The ritual was performed by his fans in Vishnupad temple built in 1787 on the bank of Falgu river by a priest, a self-confessed Jackson fan. Several celebrities had offered prayers there in the past for the salvation of their ancestors, including Bollywood superstar Shatrughan Sinha.

Around one million people from all over the world congregate in Bodh Gaya for Pind Daan annually for their ancestors. Notably, Bodh Gaya is the most important�pilgrimage sites related to the life of Gautama Buddha, who believed to have attained nirvana (Enlightenment) there.
