A.R. Rahman crowned by P. Susheela

A.R. Rahman, the 'Pride of Chennai', was felicitated by veteran playback singer P. Susheela at a recent function in Hyderabad. Rahman thanked all those who were present and said that he was humbled to be standing amongst such legends.

The Oscar-winning music director was�presented with�a golden crown (sponsored by the Tirumala Music Centre) by legendary singer�P. Susheela. Rahman's family members were also present at the function held�at the�Marriott Hotel Convention Centre.

Speaking at the award ceremony, A.R. Rahman said that it was Telugu music director Ramesh Naidu who had first given him a chance to play in his troupe before he started working for Ilayaraja. He�went on to say that he was also offered a chance to settle down in Hyderabad by well-known producer G. Rami Reddy about ten years ago.

Rahman recently performed at Kozhikode, Kerala to a huge audience, and helped raise funds for HIV affected children. He was also felicitated by the Govt. of Kerala for his contribution to Indian music.
