Bollywood actress Waheeda Rehman, who stepped in films in 1955 with a guest appearance in "Yeruvaka Sagaro ranno chinnanna" in the Telugu film Rojulu Marayi and went on to do a couple of Telugu films like Allu Arjun’s Chukkallo Chandrudu (2006), was conferred with the life achievement award at the closing function of the 14th Mumbai Film Festival on Thursday.

Rehman accepted the award from director Shyam Benegal. She said there comes a time in an artiste’s life when he-or-she shies away from accolades and she was doing that in the past. However, this time she decided to accept since the honour was from her own fraternity, at an international film festival and in the 100th year of cinema. She dedicated the award to her colleagues in the film industry.
