Vimala as traditional girl

Unlike other debutantes who usually kickstart their filmi careers with dare-to-bare roles, noted Malayalam-Tamil actress Vimala Raman will soon make her debut in Telugu as a traditional girl with Evaraina Eppudaina, directed by newcomer Marthand K. Shankar (son of veteran editor Marthand K. Venkatesh).

Elaborating about her role, Vimala Raman says: "The look is determined by the role. I am essaying the character of a homely girl. Be it glam roles or otherwise, I’ll do roles that I am comfortable with." She insisted that "facial expressions" matter and not "skin show".

Sydney-born Vimala Raman arrived in India three years ago to pursue her childhood passionof acting. After making a name for herself in Mollywood, she moved to Kollywood and did two Tamil films. Ask her whether it was difficult to master languages like Malayalam, Kannada or Telugu! "I have a knack for languages. I have learnt all the South Indian languages in no time,” she replies.

Even before her maiden Telugu release Evaraina Eppudiana hits the screens, Vimala Raman is said to have signed two more Telugu films! "I play a challenging role as a social activist in the first film, but it will be designed as a commercial potboiler and it is too early to talk about it," she said.It is heard Vimala will be paired up with lover boy Tarun in this film, directed by V.N. Aditya and produced by Supreme Raju Harwani and Gogineni Srinivas.
