Ontari in Tamil

Choreographer-turned-director B.V. Ramana's Gopichand-Bhavana starrer Ontari (2008) is the latest in the list of Telugu super hits being dubbed in Tamil as Subramaniyam by Aishwarya Creations.

Ontari, an action bonanza, did excellent business throughout Andhra Pradesh and is expected to do well in Tamil Nadu as well, as it hasall cinematic elements that thrill Kollywood audiences, plus the heroine is Bhavana, a very popular Kollywood heroine.

Ontari is about Vamsi (Gopichand), son ofaffluent sarishop owner Muddu Krishna Rao (Paruchuri Venkateshwara Rao). He falls in love with a girl Bujji (Bhavana), an orphan who stays in a hostel. With the consent of his parents, Vamsi proposes to Bujji. Meanwhile, a gangster's brother (Ajay) attempts to molest Bujjiand is roughed up by Vamsi. The gangster (Ashish Vidyarthi) vows to take revenge, and ends up killing Bujji. What happens next is the rest of the story.

The film has beautiful music by Manisharma and cinematography by Sarvesh Murari. According to reports, many Tollywood commercial entertainers could soon be dubbed in Tamil, as very few Tamil movies are releasing in March. Subramaniyam will face stiff competition from Rajni’s Engal Arasan, which is the revamped and dubbed version of the Bollywood multi-starrer Khoon Ka Karz.
