Mallikharjuna Rao cremated
Mallikharjuna Rao was cremated yesterday morning. Thousands of well-wishers, film personalities, politicians and local people were present to witness the last rites of the great comedian and humanitarian at Gavarapalem cremation grounds in his hometown Anakapalle.
After the actor's untimely death due to leukaemia on Tuesday in Hyderabad, his body was taken to Anakapalle late last night. Many luminaries like State Minister Konathala Ramakrishna, TDP leader Dadi Veerabadra Rao, MAA President Nagababu, Srikanth and other members of the artistes' association were also present.
Many locals remembered the late comedian fondly and his generosity of spirit and mourned his sudden death. His son Srinvasa Rao, who flew in from Germany and missed seeing his father alive one last time by a hair’s breath, lit the funeral pyre.
