Mallikarjuna Rao is no more

Popular and much-loved comedian Mallikharjuna Rao breathed his last in Apollo Hospital on June 24 at 10.50 a.m. He had been suffering from acute leukaemia for a while and was admitted a couple of days ago into the Hospital in a very serious condition.

His filmography includes 375 films. He started his career with Vamsi’s Ladies Tailor. He was also fondly known as Battala Satyam, after the character he played in Ladies Tailor.

He collaborated with director E.V.V. Satyanarayana to give many hit films. He received the prestigious Nandi Award for the best character actor in Thammudu.

The ace comedian’s mortal remains are being kept in the Movie Artists' Association Hall for all to pay their last respects before being taken to his hometown for the last rites.
