Cinema vs. Politics

Is veteran Telugu director Dasari Narayan Rao's latest political drama Mestri a political campaign against Megastar Chiranjeevi in the backdrop of today's pre-election scenario?

Many critics believe so, as the 'politics' in Mestri bears some resemblance to the current situation in Andhra Pradesh. Now, to counter this film, B. Ramesh, a staunch follower of Chiranjeevi, is producing a film titled Praja Nayakudu!

According to sources, Praja Nayakudu, which has already started shootinglast Friday under the direction of P.C. Adithya, is aimed to project the positive image of Praja Rajyam Party leader Chiranjeevi. The film is produced under the banner of Amma Arts Production. The makers are planning to release the flick before the elections.

Meanwhile, it is heard that after the release of Mestri, Dasari Narayana Rao is getting threatening calls from unknown persons. Dasari said that the callers have been threatening him aboutdire consequences that he will have to face for his comments against Chiranjeevi in the film.

What do you think about this ongoing controversy between Dasari Narayan Rao and Chiranjeevi? Can cinema and politicsever mix?
