Leading actress Trisha completed 21 years in Tamil cinema on Wednesday, December 13, after she made her debut in the lead role in Mounam Pesiyadhe (2002) opposite Suriya under filmmaker Ameer's direction. The romantic drama film also marked the directorial debut of Ameer, with Trisha now appearing in a video to extend her gratitude to fans for their congratulatory messages and wishes along with a heartfelt note. Seen last on the big screen in 'Thalapathy' Vijay's blockbuster Leo, the actress said in the video, "So, I just wanted to take a little time out and say thank you to each and every one of you who made today so special for me. Thank you so much for the lovely wishes, for keeping it going, and I'm here today because of the support and love that I have consistently received from you guys. Thank you and I love you, and I'm so grateful. Thank you."

Trisha also penned a statement conveying her thankfulness to all those who gave her the support to reach where she is now in life. She wrote, "I am deeply thankful and blessed... for the special, unique, amazing people in my life who support me, uplift me, comfort me and bring joy to my soul as they share a piece of their own in the precise magical moment it needed to happen. My being truly loves yours." (sic) She also posted a picture of herself and shared a quote explaining how she's indebted to all those who stood by her during her difficult times. The quote posted by Trisha reads, "It's all about who stands in the rain with you when they could be dry if they wanted to."

Ameer's Mounam Pesiyadhe saw Trisha play Sandhya, while Suriya was cast as the character Gowtham, and featured chart-topping hit songs and a memorable background score composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The film went on to be well-received at the time of its release and has since attained a cult classic status. 2023 has turned out to be a successful year for Trisha after she reprised her role as Kundavai in Mani Ratnam's multi-starrer epic historical action drama film, Ponniyin Selvan: II, the sequel to Ponniyin Selvan: I (2022). The actress has wrapped up the year with the spectacular success of Leo alongside Vijay and is currently gearing up for a big start to 2024 with Ajith Kumar's highly-anticipated VidaaMuyarchi, which marks her reunion with the actor after their four previous big-screen outings - Ji (2005), Kireedam (2007), Mankatha (2011), and Yennai Arindhaal (2015).
