Known for being extremely close to his mother, Vignesh Shivan also posted a photo he took along with her with the Burj Khalifa in Dubai in the background, while conveying his wishes to her. He wrote, "Happy #mothersday MeenaKumari my loving meeeeee ! The only thing that’s taller than Burj Khalifa is the love and the efforts you have taken to give us this life ❤️🥲🌹🌹🌹🙏🏼🙏🏼😇😇😇😇😇😇😇 Best mother in the world 🌎❤️❤️😇😇😘😘😘😘😘😘😘"

Recently, Vignesh Shivan went on to reveal the reason behind the choice of the names for his children during Galatta Media's new candid interview series 'Game Changers with Suhasini Maniratnam' and said, "Actually, that's how we address each other. I call Nayan Uyir and she calls me the same. We call each other 'Uyir' and 'Ulagam'. We don't say 'dear' and 'baby'. So, at the time when we were thinking about names for the children, there was a board in my house on which I and Nayan will write, and it hit us like a spark at that moment and we decided to go with Uyir and Ulagam. There's confusion now in my house because sometimes when she (Nayanthara) calls Uyir, I will look and so will the baby. We call ourselves Uyir and Ulagam and then we added nice names for the children - RudroNeel and Daiwik. We liked the names since they are our children and it's our wish." The Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal director further stated, "The name is Bengali-mixed. Since there's an O in RudroNeel, it's like a Bengali name. Because Nayanthara is a Bengali name. We put in a lot of work to choose the names correctly. To some people, irrespective of what names we choose, they'll try to create a comedy of it. I guess it's what they like doing."
