During the Vignesh Shivan Fans Festival, Memorable scenes from his film were played and the director shared about the making of the scenes with his fans. A scene from Podaa Podi where Arjun (Silambarasan TR) would convince Nisha (Varalaxmi Sarathkumar) to come back, after an estrangement due to the death of their first son was played. Talking about the scenes the filmmaker said “Simbu sir acted the scenes so well, that too he did it in one take. In one shot. He asked me to tell the dialogue on time fully. I said it. He said 'ok, ready'. He then went and did it in one shot. We had two cameras, one in closeup and another one. We had a British cameraman to shoot the film. He started feeling emotional filming this (eventhough, it was in Tamil). He said 'That was some serious shit man’".
The anchor then said even he got emotional watching that scene. The director then revealed “what I tried with Podaa Podi. In most films, two people will meet and fall in loved and how they got together will form the rest of the story. In Podaa Podi the two will get together in the first scene itself. After that what happened is how we moved the story. So, I explored it. In an interval a baby will be born, after that a situation will happen, then how they got past it. That is the story. It was also experimental. But, ok. At that time it did not get much good response, but now some people say to me 'sir, actually, I like Podaa Podi'". The director then said “like that Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal will become a hit later. It will take time for my films to become hit."
