National Award-winning Tamil director Bala is back and with a powerful teaser for his new film, Vanangaan. The upcoming film has Arun Vijay in the lead role and is the actor's next after he kicked off 2024 on a successful note with the action thriller, Mission: Chapter 1. Vanangaan will mark Bala's big comeback to cinemas after a six-year gap since his Naachiyaar (2018) considering his Varmaa (2020) premiered directly on streaming, and the expectations are huge for the filmmaker to come out firing on all cylinders as the visuals in the teaser show promise that the film will be one to look forward to this year.
The Vanangaan teaser starts off showing the Kanyakumari backdrop and cut shots of Arun Vijay in what could be his most dynamic role and performance to date. Although not much is revealed in terms of the storyline and the plot, the visuals hint at yet another gripping potboiler from Bala. Viewers also get a glimpse at filmmaker Mysskin as a judge, while Samuthirakani has been cast as a police officer. There is no doubt that Arun Vijay is presented in a new dimension in the Vanangaan teaser as a couple of moments show him along the lines of 'Chiyaan' Vikram in Pithamagan (2003), which was also directed by Bala.
Bala has boarded a talented ensemble star cast for Vanangaan, which will see Arun Vijay sharing screen space with Roshini Prakash, who previously played the female lead in Jada (2020), followed by Ridha, Chhaya Devi, Bala Sivaji, Shanmugarajan, Yohan Chacko, Kavitha Gopi, Brindha Sarathy, Mai Pa Narayanan, Aruldas, Munish Sivagurunath and others appearing in crucial roles, while the songs and the background score are being composed by National Award winner G. V. Prakash Kumar. Initially, Vanangaan was announced with National Award-winning actor Suriya in the lead role, with the Soorarai Pottru (2020) star later opting out of the film.
