National Award-winning Tamil actor 'Chiyaan' Vikram's next big film, Thangalaan, directed by celebrated filmmaker Pa. Ranjith is scheduled for a grand theatrical release this April. The highly-anticipated period action drama film had a teaser and a making glimpse released last year to a thunderous response, with praise also pouring in for the massive scale of action. Reputed action choreographer Stunner Sam, who has composed and overseen the stunts in Thangalaan, has now in an exclusive interview with Galatta, opened up on a fire sequence with Vikram in the film describing it to be one-of-a-kind.
Speaking about the action scenes in Thangalaan, Stunner Sam explained by saying, "Each one has a different variation. There are sequences in the fire, water, and across different landscapes. You won't witness any resemblances. There's one sequence where he (Vikram) performed while being surrounded by fire and is not something anybody else would do." He added, "There's no use of CG in this fire sequence we composed and everything is live-action. He stands surrounded by fire on all sides at a 360 degree angle." Vikram, who has gone out of his way for all his roles throughout the course of his illustrious career, is expected to come out with yet another memorable performance in Thangalaan, and also likely lap up several big awards once again.
Pa. Ranjith's Thangalaan will see 'Chiyaan' Vikram sharing screen space with Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy, and Harikrishnan who have been cast in key roles, while English actor Daniel Caltagirone is playing the antagonist, with the songs and the background score composed by National Award winner G. V. Prakash Kumar. Initially announced to open in cinemas on January 26, the makers decided to push the release plans owing to the post-production works. Despite the postponement, there is tremendous buzz surrounding Thangalaan, with the film's team also planning for premieres in various prestigious film festivals.
