National Award-winning Tamil filmmaker Vetri Maaran's Viduthalai: Parts 1 & 2 premiered at the 53rd International Film Festival Rotterdam under the limelight category on Wednesday evening, January 31. The films received a standing ovation accompanied by a 5-minute non-stop applause and the makers have also posted a picture of the celebrations with Vetri Maaran and the lead stars Soori and Vijay Sethupathi along with a video of the audience reaction. The team wrote, "#Viduthalai Part 1 & 2 The film receives a thunderous standing ovation at @IFFR ! Powerful 5-minute applause resonates with the impactful storytelling and stellar performances at  #RotterdamFilmFestival" (sic)

Both Viduthalai: Parts 1 & 2 have been released together as a 4-hour version in all its glory at the 53rd International Film Festival Rotterdam in Netherlands and this latest feedback has led to a huge response among Tamil cinema fans on social media, who have been extending their congratulations, while expressing their excitement to witness the magic Vetri Maaran has woven for the big screen. While Viduthalai: Part 1 was released last year to tremendous acclaim amidst a phenomenal audience turnout in theatres, the wait is now on for the sequel, Viduthalai: Part 2, which is expected to come out in cinemas soon in the months ahead. 

This latest reaction for Viduthalai: Parts 1 & 2 will no doubt elevate the spirits of the film's team as witnessed in the picture above, which shows Vetri Maaran, Soori and Vijay Sethupathi smiling from ear to ear. An announcement is awaited on Viduthalai: Part 2's theatrical release date, which also features music composed by 'Isaignani' Ilaiyaraaja. Based on acclaimed Tamil writer Jeyamohan's short story 'Thunaivan', Viduthalai stars Soori in his lead debut role as a police constable, while Vijay Sethupathi is playing the head of a revolutionary outfit.
