National Award-winning Tamil actor 'Chiyaan' Vikram's Thangalaan directed by acclaimed filmmaker Pa. Ranjith is gearing up for a massive worldwide theatrical release this April. The upcoming film will also include intense action, with Stunner Sam at the helm. Having overseen the composing of the action sequences in Thangalaan, Stunner Sam recently sat down with Galatta for an exclusive interview to talk about the making of the stunts in the film and the cooperation extended by Pa. Ranjith and Vikram.

Speaking about the planning that went behind the action in Thangalaan, Stunner Sam said, "When the director narrated the story, I went completely into that zone and explained the detailing on what we're going to do. So, after visiting the shooting spot, it came down to how we were going to work it out. He was there with me the whole time, including during the stunt composing sessions. He'd suggest the changes to be made then and there itself and I would implement them on the spot. There was a lot of freedom from him to explore."

Stunner Sam, in his explanation about Thangalaan, further stated, "Similarly, the artistes in the film, be it Vikram sir or Malavika Mohanan, everyone gave their full cooperation for the stunt sequences. It's hard to explain Vikram sir's efforts. It's difficult to shoot in that spot. You can't wear any chappals. His costumes were only a bit loincloth since such was his role. He shot under all types of climate. There would be different kinds of insects, including scorpions. He would be seated on a small rock at that location and ask me to give a demonstration of the action sequence we composed. And, he would observe everything and do the same when we shoot the scene. We would go for lengthy shots. Doing that meant we can't go with cut shots and hence we'd do the full sequence. Irrespective of the number of takes, he will do the sequence in its entirety facing a lot of difficulties."
