'Thalapathy' Vijay's Varisu is one film Tamil cinema fans are looking forward to as it will showcase the superstar in a full-fledged family entertainer along the lines of his Poove Unakkaga and Thulladha Manamum Thullum, which went on to become a raging box office blockbusters in the 1990s. Being directed by Vamshi Paidipally under Telugu producer-distributor Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations banner, the upcoming film will feature music by chart-buster composer Thaman. S. Announced to open in theatres worldwide for Pongal in January 2023, there has been wide speculation that the highly-anticipated Varisu first single track will be released this Diwali as a special treat to mark the festivities. In that light, Thaman and a few other musicians had recently taken part in a recording session for a song, which is being described to be a foot-tapping peppy number and will include a native folk touch to it, with photos of the ensemble now doing the rounds on social media. The pictures from the Varisu song recording session have raised excitement among fans, who are now looking forward to the official announcement of the Diwali treat they have been waiting for a long time. 

Varisu s a special film for Thaman as it marks the first time he is composing the songs and background score for a Vijay film. The hit music director has been reigning at the top in Telugu cinema over the past few years and is now looking to come out all guns blazing in the film, which includes national sensation Rashmika Mandanna playing the female lead. Varisu is also the first time Rashmika is cast opposite Vijay and their pairing is undoubtedly one of the biggest USPs of the film considering she has garnered a huge fan following in a short time. Apart from Vijay and Rashmika, the supporting cast of the film includes Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj, Prabhu, Jayasudha, Yogi Babu, Shaam, Sangeetha Krish, Srikanth, and Bigg Boss 4 fame Samyuktha Shanmughanathan, with SJ Suryah too said to be appearing in a crucial role.
