Actress Sangita garnered massive popularity during the 1990s appearing alongside several leading names in Tamil cinema. Having recently made a comeback to acting after a decade in the recently-released Malayalam film, Chaaver, the popular actress won immense praise for her performance during the early stages of her career in several Tamil films, with the most notable and memorable blockbuster being Poove Unakkaga (1996) alongside 'Thalapathy' Vijay under iconic filmmaker Vikraman's direction. Recalling working in Poove Unakkaga and witnessing Vijay's phenomenal growth in Tamil cinema, Sangitha said, "Back in those days, I didn't know the seriousness. It was Vikraman sir's subject and my time revolved around the dates for the film." Sangitha further reveals how she also landed an opportunity to star in Ajith Kumar's blockbuster Kadhal Kottai (1996) around the time she was going to be a part of Poove Unakkaga. She said, "The makers of Kadhal Kottai had approached me at the same time when I was asked to play the heroine in Poove Unakkaga. Since I had to allot my dates for Poove Unakkaga, I couldn't be a part of Kadhal Kottai."
Talking about the huge fan base Vijay enjoys among the Malayalam audiences, Sangitha said, "Yes, I'm working now after many years. I'll see people coming toward me at the shooting and I'll know instantly that they are going to ask me something about him and whether I met him anytime recently. I'd tell them that it's been many years since I met him." She further revealed that she last met Vijay during the preview show of her husband's directorial debut, Silambattam, starring Silambarasan TR in the lead role. Sangitha added, "When I see Vijay sir now, I'm a big admirer. When he appears on the screen, I'll see only him no matter who is standing next to him."
