Blockbuster Tamil filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj is the talk of the town as his next big film, the highly-anticipated Leo, starring 'Thalapathy' Vijay is all set for a grand worldwide theatrical release on October 19. With the buzz already high and the expectations skyrocketing post the release of an action-packed and high-octane trailer earlier this week, Lokesh Kanagaraj sat down with National Award-winning film critic Baradwaj Rangan, the Editor-in-Chief of Galatta Plus, for a special one-on-one conversation and opened up on Vijay's characterization in the film and the big differences compared to their previous collaboration, Master (2021).

Vijay, who played the role of a college professor in Master, went on to be celebrated by fans everywhere, with Lokesh Kanagaraj receiving special praise for his depiction of the character. Speaking about the Tamil superstar's role in Leo, Lokesh Kanagaraj revealed, "There are no punch dialogues, no introduction song, and no intro fight. He (Vijay) has played the role of a person who is in his mid-forties. He hasn't even spoken in his usual style. Vijay anna has his own usual mannerisms, the way he talks and delivers the punchline, but none of that is there this time in this film since the story requires him to be as such. He clearly knows that he is going to carry the entire story on his shoulders. I think he did some amazing homework. Three months after the story narration, when we arrived on the sets on the first day and were shooting an important sequence, I saw the Vijay I had imagined while writing. I didn't see the actor Vijay sir on the first day of the sets. And, I thought he was prepared for it."
