The pressure brought onto everybody by the COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus and the subsequent lockdown is just not on health and economic issues. Many people are undergoing severe mental stress by not being able to cope up with the demands of the mandated isolation or work pressure or economic stress or even being able to adapt to the changes happening in the world and in their day-to-day lives. Following the extension of the nation-wide restricted lockdown across our country, most educational institutions have shifted to online classes to ensure that the children's education is not totally affected because of this lockdown. Though 2020 has not been a great year to everybody in general, this year has affected the Indian Cinema industry very hard. Indian Cinema has lost many talented artistes this year and news of young and talented Bollywood heartthrob Sushant Singh Rajput committing suicide is the latest to come our way. A couple of other promising young talents have also taken the hard route of killing themselves. The latest to join the list is a Television anchor Priya Juneja who died by suicide last Friday on the 31st of July.
Priya Juneja was a 24 year old Television anchor who hanged herself from a ceiling fan of her house. She had recently interviewed singer Kailash Kher and talked about how a person can remain positive and think positive in these difficult times of Covid-19 pandemic in a TV show. "According to the preliminary investigation, she was under depression. The immediate reason for the extreme step is not known yet. The body has been sent for postmortem," said the Police report. It is reported that Priya Juneja was staying with her parents, two sisters, and a brother in Delhi. The police were informed about the incident at around 7 a.m. on Friday after her family members couldn’t open her room door, where she was found hanging. The reason for her death is still unknown as she did not leave any suicide note. More details about this tragic incident will be known after a detailed post-mortem report and police investigation. We express our deepest condolences to the family of the departed.
