Actress Pragathi Mahavadi has been a known name among South Indian cinema fans for nearly three decades after she made her film debut in K. Bhagyaraj's hit, Veetla Viseshanga, in 1994, and subsequently landed roles in a number of big ventures thereafter in the Tamil and Telugu film industries. A highly popular name especially in the Telugu-speaking states, Pragathi has since made a transition to television serials having acted in Sun TV's Penn and Vamsam, and Aranmanai Kili on Vijay TV, which skyrocketed her fame to greater heights.

Pragathi, who has also made appearances in Silambarasan TR's Silambattam and director Bala's Tharai Thappattai, is an active social media user and often posts videos of herself dancing or hitting it out at the gym. She recently danced to the chart-buster 'Vaathi Coming' song from 'Thalapathy' Vijay's blockbuster, Master, which went viral among fans. In that light, the 44-year-old actress, who has over two lakh followers on Instagram, posted a fitness video where she is shown sweating it out during her workout.

Captioning the video, "Iam a result of my mistakes, my choices, my discipline, My passion, my madness", Pragathi has been flooded with comments, with one user asking her whether she is going to take part in any wrestling competition, while also questioning her for the need to suffer as such. Soon after, Pragathi responded with a sharp reply in Telugu which when translated is as following: "Your negative comments are only demotivating people, but my passion remains in physical fitness... I love to live for what I love not others like…" On the work front, Pragathi's next big release in Tamil is the G. V. Prakash Kumar and Amritha Aiyer starrer, Vanakkam Da Mappilei, and Most Eligible Bachelor in Telugu, which has Akhil Akkineni, Pooja Hegde and Eesha Rebba in the lead roles.
