Earlier today, it was announced that actor Suriya has been invited to the Oscar committee to be part of the actor's branch. Here he will have to nominate actors for the four acting categories - Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences released its list of 397 artists invited to the Academy’s Class of 2022 on Tuesday, which included Suriya's name. With this, Suriya is now the first Tamil actor to be invited to join the prestigious Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
This is a big feat considering the fact that he is literally the first (of possible many) to have been invited into this. Words of affirmation and congratulations from many prominent personalities were thrown at the actor all over social media. Among them was Tamil Nadu's 8th Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, who took to his official Twitter handle to praise the actor publicly.
", which translates to, "For his select performance; My congratulations to Thambi @Suriya_offl who has become the first South Indian actor to be invited for the @TheAcademy Awards, as a great recognition for his socially responsible storytelling! The sky is the limit! "
Suriya graciously replied to him by saying, "தங்கள் வாழ்த்து மகிழ்ச்சி அளிப்பதோடு பொறுப்புணர்வையும் உணர்த்துகிறது. நல்ல படைப்புகளைத் தொடர்ந்து தர முயற்சிக்கிறேன்.. தங்கள் அன்புக்கு மனம் நிறைந்த நன்றிகள் 🙏🏽 @mkstalin ", which translates to, "Their greeting brings joy and a sense of responsibility. I will continue to give good works .. Heartfelt thanks for their love 🙏🏽 @mkstalin"
