EXCLUSIVE: "I decided not to use the 'Makkal Superstar' title" - Raghava Lawrence opens up about controversy! Full interview here!

Raghava Lawrence is a popular actor whose recent film Rudhran was released on April 14. The film was directed by famous producer Five Star Kathiresan and is running successfully in theatres. The actor grew from being a dance choreographer and then become a lead actor. He has also directed many films and will be well-known for the Muni/Kanchana movie series. He is also known for his social work and runs a charitable trust under his name.

Raghava Lawrence interacted with his fans during an exclusive interview with Galatta Media. The anchors asked about the 'Makkal Superstar' title controversy during the interview. The actor replied “The 'Makkal Superstar' title, we used in the Sai Ramani sir's film Motta Shiva Ketta Shiva. The thing is I like people and Superstar. During my childhood, If somebody says Superstar is coming I would and pose like him and dance on stages. I would think of myself as Superstar. So, we put it as 'Makkal Superstar'. After that Rajini sir fans felt sad. They felt it was wrong to put Makkal Superstar title when the Superstar is present. I used the titles because I like Thalaivar and I do things that benefit people so we formed it as 'Makkal Superstar'. I felt it was a like a son taking father's name. It got reversed and people were talking negatively about it, at that time I did not have that much maturity and I got tensed and called Sai Ramani sir and asked him to say that he only gave that title to me."

"After coming home my mom also supported me and said 'you are only adding the name of your Thalaivar so I don’t think there is anything wrong with it.' I get angry when someone doesn’t understand me and get hurt. As it was Super star fans who felt bad, they could also be right too and so I decided not to use that title henceforth."said the director about the controversy around the title 'Makkal Superstar'.
