Viduthalai is a recent film directed by Vetri Maaran that was released in theatres yesterday. The film got a good review from critics and saw a huge box office opening. The film had a huge buzz because it was the next release of the director after Asuran which was released in 2019. The two-part film has one of the well-known comedians and supporting actors Soori playing the lead and Vijay Sethupathi in an important role. The film also has a huge star cast that includes Bhavani Sri, Chetan, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Rajiv Menon, Ilavarasu, Munnar Ramesh and Saravana Subbiah. It has music composed by maestro Ilayaraja and is based on the short story Thunaivan by Jeyamohan.

Well-known Tamil Nadu politician and leader of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, Thol. Thirumavalavan posted his comments after watching the film. The politicians shared pictures of himself with director Vetri Maaran and said “I recently saw Comrade Vetri Maaran's Viduthalai movie. It shows the difference between Government, authority and reign and working-class people. Government means authority, authority means weapon, weapon means arrogance and arrogance means blood of, indigenous people." He went on to say “it exposes the cruel oppression inch by inch. It shows how the group that represents people reacts to the ruling class and the consequences of it in a deep way." He then went on to praise Vetri Maaran saying "Maaran is not just a creator but also a professor who describes the class contradictions. He knows that it is essential for people to know about organizing and politicizing. As usual, he has made the film that can be marked as a Vetri Maaran's Creation"
