As the host, Baradwaj Rangan asked Soori about his acting experience on the first day and first scene of Viduthalai. The actor stated “the scene did not come in the film. I went to the shooting spot on the first day with a full beard” He then explained that he grew the beard over the Covid-inflicted lockdown as Vetri Maaran has asked him. He then said “He (Vetri Maaran) fixed the shooting spot at Avadi. there is a big police training ground there. On the first day of shooting, they trimmed my hair in from of him. It was like, he was sculpting me. When I opened my eyes I looked like a perfect cop. Sir was taking a different shot then and then he looked at me. I was thrilled as this is the first time he would see me as Kumersan and he glanced and said 'ok good' and asked to trim the moustache lightly. Then he asked me to stand amidst many cops in line and we shot about how the police will rescue people in case of an emergency. There were nuances to it. I picked up someone heftier than me and ran and there were also techniques on how correctly carry someone to reduce risk. He (Vetri Maaran) said 'super' and said amidst much home-guard police. He said 'all of you are saying you are home-guard police but Soori looks fitter than you'. And I became very happy. I did not expect that word from him. He said I was only fit and asked those with bellies to move back. He then asked me to do push-ups and then climb on a rope and someone will hit me from the back. Sir said ok. Then during the break, he said He doesn't want me to act and said he doesn't want the regular acting from me and said 'Just do what I say I want you to internalise the character don't think you are acting, just think you are the character'. Then again there were breaks due to Covid and then we went to Sathya Mangalam. There also he corrected me slightly" and said actor soori. Watch the full interview here:
