The COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus Pandemic has already claimed thousands of lives across the globe and is still rendering many people infected. The governments of different countries are trying various means to fight this deadly virus and the Indian Government has announced a 21-day nation-wide lockdown to prevent its spread. This lockdown has resulted in the Indian Cinema industry going into hibernation mode with shooting being stopped across the country and theatres also being closed down. The lockdown, though mandatory to prevent the virus spread, has rendered many people without jobs and with questions over their very livelihoods! The daily wage workers of the film industries and the junior artistes who depend on daily income from shoots have now been left with no income and this is affecting them & their families very badly.

Many stars from Kollywood have come forward to contribute to the relief efforts of the technicians, daily wage workers of the film industry and junior artistes! A number of people have been contributing rice bags and money to FEFSI for the union members and now, a lot of stars & celebrities have come forward to contribute to the needy members of the South Indian Artistes Association (SIAA) or Nadigar Sangam as it is more commonly known! Actors like Nasser, Karthi, Soori, SJ Suriya, Sachu, Riythvika, Aadhi, Kovai Sarala, Nagineedu, Latha, Rohini, Sangeetha, Ponvannan, Nagineedu, Black Pandi and others like Ishari K Ganesh, Poochi Murugan, Sathyapriya, Santhana Barathi, Salem Parthiban and Prabha Ramesh have all contributed whatever they can and the total collected amount has come up to Rs. 15,65,100! This amount and whatever more can be collected, would definitely help with making life a little easier for those people whose lives have been severely affected by this COVID-19 Corona Virus!
