Acclaimed Tamil filmmaker Mari Selvaraj and actor-politician Udhayanidhi Stalin are joining hands for a new film and has been titled Maamannan. Taking to social media, Udhayanidhi revealed the upcoming film's title on Friday and is being produced under his Red Giant Movies banner. Along with the Maamannan title reveal, the composer of the upcoming film has also been announced to be none other than Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman. Furthermore, leading Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil, who is reportedly playing a negative role in Kamal Haasan's biggie Vikram alongside Vijay Sethupathi, has also been roped in for a pivotal role in Maamannan. Along with the casting of Fahadh, Red Giant Movies has also announced that the film will feature National Award-winning actress Keerthy Suresh as the female lead, while 'Vaigai Puyal' Vadivelu will be appearing in a supporting role. 

Talks of Mari Selvaraj and Udhayanidhi coming together for Maamannan have been talked about quite a lot over the past few months after pictures of the duo's meeting along Fahadh and A. R. Rahman went viral on social media. The team-up of such big names has generated plenty of excitement for the film and fans expect Mari Selvraraj to deliver yet another thought-provoking and nail-biting film on the lines of his Pariyerum Perumal and Karnan, which have gone on to garner cult status among fans. Apart from the star-studded cast and music by A. R. Rahman, Maamannan also includes an incredible technical team featuring the likes of Theni Eswar for cinematography, editing by Selva RK, respectively, art direction by Kumar Gangappan, action by Dhilip Subbarayan, with lyrics written by Yugabharathi and choreography by Sandy. Udhayanidhi is co-producing the film with M. Shenbaga Moorthy and R. Arjun Durai, with Kalaignar TV acquiring its satellite rights and the audio rights going to Sony Music.
