It's official - we're getting the sequel to the fantasy comedy film Maragadha Naanayam (2017). The big Maragadha Naanayam 2 announcement has come from none other than director ARK Saravan, who shared the news on social media on Thursday, July 28, along with a photo still of a green emerald gemstone. Taking to Twitter, the filmmaker also revealed that he will be reuniting with hit Tamil film producer G. Dilli Babu's Axess Film Factory once again after their Maragadha Naanayam went on to become a surprise hit at the box office, while also earning critical acclaim from fans and critics alike.
Maragadha Naanayam 2 is also ARK Saravan's next after his big superhero film Veeran with Hiphop Tamizha Adhi this year, which was produced by the prestigious Sathya Jyothi Films banner. Although no other details have been shared by the filmmaker, he did express his excitement by saying that the upcoming sequel to his 2017 hit film is loading with a bang. At this point, it is also unknown whether Maragadha Naanayam 2 is going to pick up from where the first film left off while retaining the same characters or if it is going to be a completely new story with a fresh cast. While Veeran appealed to a larger family audience demography, it will be interesting to see what ARK Saravan is going to deliver with Maragadha Naanayam 2 in the days ahead.

Real-life couple Aadhi and Nikki Galrani played the lead roles in Maragadha Naanayam in the lead roles before they tied the knot in 2022 and were featured alongside an ensemble star cast that included Anandaraj, Munishkanth, Daniel Annie Pope, Mime Gopi, M. S. Bhaskar, Kota Srinivasa Rao among others in key roles, with music composed by Dhibu Ninan Thomas. The 'Nee Kavithaigala' song in the film sung by Pradeep Kumar went on to become an instant chart-topping hit and continues to rule the playlist of many, while also spawning several cover versions and Instagram Reels.
