'Thalapathy' Vijay's Leo is gearing up for a grand worldwide theatrical release on October 19 and the excitement has shot up tenfold, especially after the action-packed visuals witnessed in the film's trailer. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and featuring music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, the upcoming gangster action drama includes several big names in the technical team, with costume designer Praveen Raja also now receiving praise for his work after the release of the film's trailer and the visuals seen in the songs that have come out so far. With Leo's release right around the corner, Praveen recently sat down with Galatta for an exclusive interview and spoke about Vijay's two different looks in the film, while also opening up his working experience alongside the Tamil cinema superstar and Lokesh Kanagaraj.
Talking about the inputs he received when joining the Leo costume team, Praveen Raja said, "Lokesh usually narrates what he wants from all the technicians and we'll then get an idea. And, when we do a presentation of our perspective, he will have a line about what will work out perfectly. So, when we begin working during the look test phase, he will share his idea about what zone the costumes are going to be in. After that, the colors and the detailing will be applied." When asked about witnessing Vijay's different looks on the Leo sets, Praveen stated, "There will always be high energy whenever he is present and a lot of excitement. He will always be looking in a stylized manner. Nobody can find any faults in the way he carries himself."
Upon being asked how he imagined Vijay before styling him, Praveen explained, "I would get inspiration from him since he has already tried most of the outfits. I mostly like the look he had in Badri in check shirts and a white t-shirt on the inside. That look was perfect for him." Revealing that he found Vijay's costumes in Sachein to be perfect, he opened up about the actor's two different looks in Leo. He said, "After we finished the look test, we got an idea about how he will be presented. It's the same look that you witnessed in the first glimpse. Whereas, his second look was a drastic change since he had long hair continuously over a period of nearly three months. He then suddenly got a haircut and looked extremely smart, and it created a lot of excitement."
