'Thalapathy' Vijay's Leo has taken an explosive start in cinemas and is now the first Tamil film to enter the highest all-time global box office collection (GBOC) opening day films list with 148.5+ crores. Produced by Lalit Kumar's 7 Screen Studio banner, the mass action drama directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj featuring music composed by Anirudh Ravichander also recorded the highest worldwide gross collection of 2023 for an Indian film on day one, with the numbers expected to skyrocket in the days ahead on account of the Ayudha pooja holiday weekend.

With Leo now being the talk of the town, there have also been mixed reviews for the Vijay-starrer, which producer Lalit Kumar has now addressed during an exclusive interview with National Award-winning film critic Baradwaj Rangan, the Editor-in-Chief of Galatta Plus. Speaking also about the lag in the second half of the film, Lalit said, "As far as I know, there was criticism on the first day, but the audience liked it. We didn't expect this. The first half was super. I spoke about this during the Maharaja [first look launch] event that I had watched the first half [of Leo] and how it will [appeal] to all types of audiences. That was the actual report. Likewise, it is being said that there is a lag of around 10 minutes in the second half for the audience, but as a film, the last forty minutes will hold its ground."

Producer Lalit Kumar's interview with Baradwaj Rangan is out now on the Galatta Plus YouTube channel where he has further elaborated on director Lokesh Kanagaraj's narration of Leo's story, while also opening up on the large-scale production and planning involved with 'Thalapathy' Vijay. The film also stars Trisha as the female lead, with Sanjay Dutt, Arjun, Mysskin, and Sandy master cast in negative roles, while Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mansoor Ali Khan, Priya Anand, Mathew Thomas, among others also make key appearances.
