Veteran Tamil director KS Ravikumar has acted in a new Tamil film titled Mathil which is directed by Mithran R Jawahar who is known for making films like Yaaradi Nee Mohini, Uthamaputhiran, and Kutty. Mathil is a social family drama that will star KS Ravikumar in the lead role and it is said to be an important film for him, as an actor. Mathil has been made as a direct to digital film and it will stream on Zee 5 platform without having a theatrical release. During the lockdown phase, Zee 5 network released quality content driven movies like Ka Pae Ranasingam, Lock Up and now, Mathil will be the latest addition to the list.

This Zee 5 original film will release on April 14 on the special occasion of Tamil New Year. Produced by Singa Sankaran under the banner of SS Group, the film also stars Mime Gopi, Bigg Boss Madhumita, Kathadi Ramamurthy and Lollu Sabha Swaminathan. The cinematography is handled by G.Balamurugan, while the editing is done by M.Thiyagarajan. Talking about the film, director Mithran Jawahar  said, “Mathil speaks about an important issue. An issue that will relate to  everyone who work hard and build their houses from their savings. This is a special and challenging movie for me. I have till now done only family dramas or hilarious contents. This is the first time I am doing a movie on a social cause.  There are situations in life where we fear the power above us and back down. But the need to express our emotions and stand up for our rights is stressed in the film".

KS Ravikumar, in his official statement, said, “What is happening in our neighbourhood is shown in the movie. It is a lesson for politicians. Reminds us of our responsibility. A full stop to needless illegal acts and a salute to the police force. An eye-opener for the selfish who stay away.  In short, Mathil is a movie where a bold and responsible father faces a problem and overcomes it”. Along with the announcement, the makers also unveiled the teaser of the film which looks quite promising.

The teaser gives us a glimpse of the film's conflict and it looks interesting. For now, check out the newly released official teaser of KS Ravikumar's Mathil, directed by Mithran R Jawahar here:
