Santhanam is one of the popular actors of Tamil cinema industry known for playing the lead in comedy films. The recent film by the actor that was released in theatres was DD Returns. The exciting horror comedy has been well received by audiences. Ahead of the release of the film, Galatta Media, known for organising awe-inspiring events, organised a special event for the actor, and he shared many interesting details about the film, his life, and his career. When asked if the actor Santhanam was interested in directing a film, he replied jovially "Yes, I am planning to do a film for Rs 1000 crore like Avatar. I am looking for producers".

Actor Santhanam then said in a more serious tone that he likes to direct a film but wants to do acting first. When asked in which genre the film would be, The actor said, "It will be science fiction". When asked why he acts in many Horror comedy films where ghosts are trolled, The actor shared that he was scared of ghosts when he was a kid after watching horror films. "And so I wanted the children of the next generation to not be afraid of ghosts and to enjoy horror films happily. When children grow up, they must be fearless and be able to travel and move without fear."
Santhanam's DD Returns was released in theatres on July 28. It has a huge cast of actors that includes Santhanam, Surabhi, Redin Kingsley, Maran, Pradeep Rawat, Masoom Shankar, Fesi Vijayan, Motta Rajendran, Munishkanth, Dheena, Bipin, Thanga Durai, Deepa, and others. It is backed by C. Ramesh Kumar under the banner of RK Entertainment. The film, helmed by S. Prem Anand, also has music composed by Ro.
