'Megastar' Chiranjeevi's next big film, Bholaa Shankar, will open in cinemas worldwide on August 11 this year ahead of the Independence Day celebrations, an official announcement was made on Tuesday evening on the festive occasion of the Telugu New Year. The upcoming film is a remake of the 2015 Tamil blockbuster, Vedalam, which had Ajith Kumar in the lead role, with Lakshmi Menon playing his sibling, while Shruti Haasan was cast as the female lead, under Siva's direction. The release date for Chiranjeevi's Bholaa Shankar has been revealed in a new poster featuring the iconic star alongside Keerthy Suresh, who will be seen as his sister in the film, while Tamannaah is cast as the heroine.
Chiranjeevi had first announced Bholaa Shankar in 2021, and the excitement surrounding the film has been nothing short of tremendous ever since it began rolling. The Telugu remake of Ajith's Vedalam is directed by Meher Ramesh under Ramabrahmam Sunkara's AK Entertainments banner and features music by Mahati Swara Sagar. The mass action entertainer also includes an ensemble supporting cast featuring the likes of Sushanth, Raghu Babu, Murali Sharma, Ravi Shankar, Vennela Kishore, Tulasi, Sri Mukhi, Bithiri Sathi, Satya, Getup Srinu, Rashmi Gautam and Uttej, among others, with the cinematography and editing done by by Dudley and Marthand K Venkatesh, respectively, while the dialogues are written by Thirupathi Mamidala.
