Cinematographer Siddhartha Nuni impressed the Tamil cinema audience with his work in Silambarasan TR's Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu: Part I - The Kindling (2022) directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon. Having made heads turn with his work in Kannada films Lucia (2013) and U Turn (2016), he is now awaiting the release of the upcoming Tamil biggie, Captain Miller, directed by Arun Matheswaran and starring two-time National Award-winning actor Dhanush. In that light, Siddhartha Nuni recently sat down with Galatta for an exclusive interview to talk about Captain Miller, who shed light on his shooting experiences, while also opening up on the techniques implemented for the ambience and the milieu of the film.

Speaking about the parallels for the action in Captain Miller in comparison to Arun Matheswaran's previous films, Rocky (2021) and Saani Kaayidham (2022), Siddhartha Nuni said, "My friend had sent the censor certificate details to me. I didn't know that it was already out there, but we had like four and a half minutes cut. It's a 'U/A' now." Revealing that the cuts were in Captain Miller's climax portions, Siddhartha also addressed the intensity of the action scenes by saying, "Arun has already said it, but this film doesn't have as much violence compared to his first two films. It was set up like a large-scale spectacle event film to be enjoyed by the larger audience. So, we kind of kept the violence to the limit and we didn't go beyond a certain point where we'd probably get an adult certificate because we aimed for a 'U/A' so that the whole family can come and watch. It's an action film."

The action revealed so far in Captain Miller in the film's teaser and the recently-released trailer have added to the excitement for the Dhanush-starrer, which is releasing in theatres worldwide for Pongal on January 12. The film also features youth sensation Priyanka Arul Mohan playing the female lead, while Kannada superstar Dr. Shivarajkumar, Maanagaram hero Sundeep Kishan, Merku Thodarchi Malai hero Antony, Sillu Karuppatti actress Nivedhithaa Sathish, Thunivu villain John Kokken, and Malayalam actor Moor will be seen in key roles. Captain Miller includes music by National Award winner G. V. Prakash Kumar and is the seventh occasion he has collaborated with Dhanush after their previous films Polladhavan (2007), Aadukalam (2011), Mayakkam Enna (2011), Asuran (2019), Maaran (2022), and Vaathi (2023).
