Popular Hindi fashion influencer Uorfi Javed hit the headlines on Friday, November 3, after a video showing her "arrest" took social media by storm. In the clip that was released by the paparazzo, two women and a male dressed as police officials took the Bigg Boss OTT star into custody allegedly over the length of her clothes. With the video soon going viral and many speculating whether it was a prank, the Mumbai Police has now stepped into action and issued a strong statement on Instagram informing that an obscenity case has been registered adding that an investigation is also currently underway.

In a strongly worded statement, the Mumbai Police shared a screengrab from the viral video featuring Uorfi Javed, which showed the two women dressed as police officers. Without taking any names, they revealed that the fake officer in the video had been taken into custody while adding that the vehicle used had also been seized. The Mumbai Police wrote, "One Can’t Violate Law Of The Land, For Cheap Publicity! A viral video of a woman being allegedly arrested by Mumbai Police, in a case of obscenity is not true - insignia & uniform have been misused. However, a criminal case has been registered against those involved in the misleading video, at Oshiwara Pstn under sections 171, 419, 500, 34 IPC. While further investigation is on, the fake inspector is under arrest & the vehicle has been seized too. #RealityCheck" (sic)

Controversy erupted earlier in the day yesterday when a video of Uorfi Javed being arrested by two women dressed as police officers began trending. The video showed her wearing a backless top, with the two women telling her to come along with them while being taken away in their vehicle. Later on, Uorfi Javed took to Instagram Stories to reveal that the gimmick was for an ad campaign, which she captioned as being "arrested by the fashion police".
