Yesterday (14 February 2022), being the day of love, that very emotion was celebrated worldwide. It did not just stop there but it was also celebrated in the movie world. One such instance was the team behind Avatar 2 wishing the Na'vi Nation, a fan community around James Cameron's groundbreaking movie Avatar, by releasing a short glimpse for the fans. The 10 second preview shows Sam Worthington's Jake Sully and Zoe Saldana's Neytiri sharing a heartfelt moment together. Check it out below:

That being said, it has been 13 years since Cameron's Avatar first came out. It was an instant box-office phenomenon breaking several records and became the highest-grossing film at the time even surpassing his own 1997 epic romance-disaster film Titanic, which had held those records for twelve years. Avatar remained the highest-grossing film worldwide for nearly a decade until it was overtaken by Avengers: Endgame in 2019, before a Chinese re-release saw Avatar retake the top spot in March 2021.

Cameron promised to deliver the first outing's sequel but it has been over 10 years now. The year is finally here where we get the first sequel of the film. It is the highly anticipated sequel to the record-breaking, Oscar-winning film Avatar, which has released way back in 2009. James Cameron has returned to direct, write, and produce the film and will see Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana reprise their roles from the first Avatar film.

Oscar winning actress Kate Winslet, best known for Titanic, is joining the cast as Ronal, a Na’vi character. New cast members also include Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, Brendan Cowell, Michelle Yeoh, Jemaine Clement, Oona Chaplin, Vin Diesel, and CJ Jones. With a star-studded cast as such, we could only imagine how great the movie would be with all these great performers coming together.

Avatar was initially supposed to just get two sequels but 2 more sequels were added to this cauldron as Cameron felt this was the best recipe for the perfect brew. The film's theatrical release has been subject to eight delays. It is currently planned for a release on December 16, 2022, with the following three sequels to be released, respectively, on December 20, 2024, December 18, 2026 and December 22, 2028. The sequels will continue to follow the characters of Jake and Neytiri with humans returning as the antagonists of the story.
