Suriya's Soorarai Pottru is finally set for its worldwide premiere on November 12 on the Amazon Prime Video OTT platform. The highly-anticipated Sudha Kongara directorial featuring music by G. V. Prakash Kumar has been carrying tremendous expectations right from the moment it went into production in early 2019. Produced jointly by Suriya's 2D Entertainment and Guneet Monga's Sikhya Entertainment banners, the film was initially planned for a theatrical release, with the makers later announcing it to be coming out directly on OTT in view of the coronavirus pandemic. Having said that, GV Prakash has now announced on his Twitter page that there is an exclusive song in Soorarai Pottru, which can be watched once the film premieres on Amazon. He tweeted, "One more special song is in the film ... I kept it as a special to feel it in the picture .... watch it and hear the exclusive trk ... #sooraraipottru ... @Suriya_offl  #sudhakongara @rajsekarpandian".

GV Prakash has delivered yet again a solid chart-buster album with Soorarai Pottru as all songs have received strong and positive feedback from fans. The composer-actor has been actively promoting the film since he was announced to be a part of the project, while also interacting with fans on several occasions by providing them with frequent updates. Dubbed in Telugu as Aakaasam Nee Haddhu Ra, Suriya is essaying a character named Nedumaran Rajangam aka Maara, with his character said to be inspired from the life of Captain GR Gopinath, the founder of Air Deccan airliner. 

The expectations for Soorarai Pottru is off the charts as evident by the talk among fans on social media considering the action drama film is perhaps the biggest Tamil film to date to be released on OTT. Film industry personalities who have watched the film as well have been showering praises on a positive note. Although many were disappointed that the film wasn't hitting theatres, many are now content that they would at least get to witness the star in action, especially due to a dearth in entertainment content during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Soorarai Pottru will see Suriya romancing Sarvam Thaala Mayam actress Aparna Balamurali, with veteran Telugu actor Mohan Babu Paresh Rawal, Vivek Prasanna, Karunas among others cast in pivotal roles. The film also includes a strong technical team with Niketh Bommi for the cinematography and editing done by Sathish Suriya.
