Silambarasan TR is planning plenty of grand treats for his fans as the swashbuckling star is currently attached to a number of of high-profile projects and one among them is the highly-anticipated Maanaadu directed by Venkat Prabhu under Suresh Kamatchi's V House Productions banner. Touted to be an action thriller, the makers released an intriguing teaser a while back, which has fans still talking, with expectations for the film to come out in theatres this year. Currently in post-production, a few new shooting spot stills from Maanaadu are now doing the rounds on social media, which show Simbu in deep discussion with a crew member. 

The new images from the upcoming film have raised quite a lot of curiosity yet again regarding the story considering STR is for the most part seen in the same attire, leading to speculations on social networking forums that the plot of Maanaadu revolves around the concept of time and certain events that take place during a particular period. Producer Suresh Kamatchi had recently complimented director Venkat Prabhu for his work in the film and said, "Mankatha maker is back in action with a thrilling mass entertainer", with the statement since then elevating the expectations surrounding Maanaadu. Announced in mid-2018, production on Maanaadu took a while to begin, with the mass masala political entertainer set to showcase Silambarasan playing the role of a Muslim in the film for the first time in his career as his character will be called Abdul Khaaliq. The film is also the first occasion Simbu is collaborating on a full-length feature with Venkat Prabhu after his cameo appearance in the 2010 hit, Goa. A multi-starrer, Maanaadu also has the big addition of composer Yuvan Shankar Raja, who has in the past delivered chart-busters for both Venkat Prabhu and STR in each of their individual projects.
