It is a widely known fact that the Tamil remake of Vijay Deverakonda’s Arjun Reddy was initially shot by acclaimed filmmaker Bala under the title of Varma. The film featured Dhruv Vikram and Megha Chowdhury in the lead roles and had music scored by Radhan. The film was fully completed and ready for release, but that is when the breaking announcement was made by the film’s producer, Mukesh Ratilal Mehta. Talking in an official statement, Mukesh of E4 Entertainment said that the production side was not happy with the output delivered by Bala and added that the film will be entirely reshot once again with a fresh cast and team. This was an one of a kind incident which Kollywood witnessed for the first time in its close to hundred years of history and it took everyone by surprise.

After scrapping Bala’s Varma, the production house, under the supervision of Chiyaan Vikram, made Adithya Varma which we witnessed last year. Dhruv’s performance earned very good reviews from the fans and general audience and it marked the beginning of his film journey. Since the start of this year, there have been various reports and speculations that producer Mukesh Ratilal Mehta is planning to release Bala’s version of Varma directly on an OTT platform. Recently, a section of the media reported that popular OTT giant Amazon Prime Video acquired the digital streaming rights of Bala's Varma and would release it on November 13 ahead of the Diwali festival. This news created a huge buzz on the social media and the fans who were waiting to see this version were quite eager to know if it was true.

However, it turns out that the news is false. Mukesh Ratilal Mehta denied the speculation as a false news, thereby putting an end to the rumour. His immediate clarification on Twitter has put the speculations to rest. However, we are still not sure if the producer is planning to release Bala’s Varma on OTT platform and we will have to wait for a few more months to get a better clarity on that. Meanwhile, Dhruv Vikram is gearing up and getting ready for the shooting of Chiyaan 60, directed by Karthik Subbaraj. Both Vikram and Dhruv have undergone intense training for their respective characters in this action thriller that will have music scored by Anirudh Ravichander.
