A rumour that spread like wildfire on social media, leading Telugu hero Prabhas' entry into the cast of Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible 7, was put to rest by the upcoming film's director Christopher McQuarrie himself on Wednesday. Responding to a fan's tweet on whether Prabhas was indeed cast in MI7, McQuarrie issued a clarification on the Baahubali hero's association with the global blockbuster franchise and wrote, "While he's a very talented man, we've never met. Welcome to the internet." Below is Christopher McQuarrie's tweet:

The speculations of Prabhas being cast in Mission: Impossible 7 seems to have risen after a fan club's tweet cited that the Telugu star had met Christopher McQuarrie while he was shooting for his upcoming pan-Indian film, Radhe Shyam, in Italy.

Mission: Impossible 7 will see Tom Cruise once again reprise his role as special agent Ethan Hunt, with the film scheduled to be released by Paramount Pictures in the United States on May 27, 2022, followed by a premiere on the streaming platform Paramount+ in July 2022. Initially announced to arrive in theatres worldwide this year in July before being delayed to November and thereafter to May next year, production on the film suffered a major roadblock due to the pandemic. Shooting resumed in September last year amid strict COVID-19 protocols, with the film's cast also featuring Ving Rhames, Simong Pegg, Indira Varma, Rob Delaney, Mark Gatiss, Cary Elwes and Charles Parnell.

Meanwhile, Prabhas, who was last seen in Saaho in 2019, has in his lineup films like Radhe Shyam, opposite Pooja Hegde. He is also a part of the ambitious mythological film, Adipurush, alongside Saif Ali Khan and is scheduled to come out in 2022. Likewise, Prabhas is joining hands with KGF director Prashanth Neel for Salaar, which has him sharing screen space with Shruti Haasan. He also has in his kitty, the tentatively titled Prabhas 21 opposite Deepika Padukone, with the film's cast also featuring legendary Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan.
